The Office

Take a look at how it works in another office. The Kancl or The Office is an older series, but it's still good. This fictional satirical documentary depicts the day-to-day running of Dunder Mifflin. And HR themes abound - whether it's company culture or recruitment.

Intern

The experience
never gets old. That's the subtitle of The Intern, starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Here, the HR theme shines through from a mile away. The film points out that age doesn't play a role in the work sphere either. Often the opposite. Even an older employee can bring a breath of fresh air to a modern startup full of millennials, making the company go that extra mile.

Suits

2011 - 2019, 87% on CSFD
The motivation for
watching this series set in a law firm environment shouldn't just be a desire to see Duchess Meghan as a paralegal. The series points out that an employee can be good at their job even if they don't boast a college degree. Mike Ross (played by Patrick J. Adams) never graduated from law school. However, chance, his charisma, and most importantly, his perfect photographic memory landed him a job as a lawyer at a top law firm. Although the series isn't strictly from an HR background, HR professionals will find something to enjoy here - whether it's a look at employee relations in the office or legal principles in human resources.

I'm in it.

2009, 75% on CSFD
Laying Off Employees Differently. Empathetically. That's the subject of the film I'm Flying In, starring George Clooney. He plays Ryan Bingham, who works for a career transition consultancy that specializes in laying off employees across the United States. But he does it differently. And you can see that in the film. Because it really takes very little to turn an employee's unpleasant termination into the opportunity of a lifetime.

The Devil Wears Prada

2006, 69% on CSFD
How much are you sacrificing for your dream career? And what happens when you hire a person whose fashion tastes and interests make him or her a definite fit for the position you're filling in the company? The star-studded film starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway has a touch of HR in it after all. Recruitment for a position that no one will last long in and also an insight into how to (not) treat your employees.
